Looking Back...

"Bird of Paradise" - this was my first quilt using the paper-piecing method, also known as Sew and Flip.  It is a method using a traced pattern on freezer paper.  The finished size of this wall hanging was 24" x 36", and seeing as it was my first attempt at this type of quilting, I truly was proud of what I had achieved and, without hesitation, gave myself a huge pat on the back.
Since then I have done many paper-piecing projects, each one just as challenging as the one before.

In 2003 I was tasked to create a new stole for the priest at our church in Northern Ontario.  This picture shows the Christmas Stole in all its glory.  There was extensive hand embroidery as well as machine stitching and couching used in this work. It was worn for the first time at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Maple Lake, Carnarvon, Ontario at Christmas 2003.
